RESOLUTION
PERTAINING TO THE FILING OF THE NFPA 70 NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE, 2020
EDITION, IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin is considering adopting by reference the NFPA 70 National
Electric Code, 2020 Edition, as the regulations for electric systems, conductors and equipment
utilized in building and construction activities in the City of Elgin; and
WHEREAS, the NFPA 70 National Electric Code, 2020 Edition, has been published by
the National Fire Protection Association; and
WHEREAS, Section 1-3-2 of the Illinois Municipal Code (65 ILCS 5/1-3-2) authorizes
any municipality to adopt by reference the provisions of any regulations or public records provided
that one copy of such regulations or public records is filed with the City Clerk for a period of thirty
days prior to adoption of an ordinance which incorporates such regulations or public records by
reference; and
WHEREAS, a copy of the NFPA 70 National Electric Code, 2020 Edition was placed on
file with the office of the City Clerk on February 19, 2025.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that the copy of the NFPA 70 National Electric Code, 2020 Edition,that was
placed on file in the office of the City Clerk on February 19, 2025, be kept available for public
use, inspection, and examination for a period of thirty days from that date.
