PROJECT M00210
CHANGE ORDER No. 1
CONTRACT: Elgin Police Department Concrete Replacement-Job Order Contract
SCOPE: Addition of limestone and CMU block wall replacement, as well as handrail repairs
and additional miscellaneous work.
REASONS FOR CHANGE: Upon demolition of the existing limestone blocks, it was discov-
ered that more block is required to be replaced. The CMU block wall supporting the limestone
was also found to be compromised, rendering the foundational wall useless for the new lime-
stone. Other necessary changes have been discovered as the project has progressed and revealed
other deficiencies. This includes necessary repairs to handrails and pavers, installation of con-
struction fencing, additional caulking work and pavers to be reconfigured. Much of this addition-
al work is necessary to prolong the lifespan of the final product.
The circumstances said to necessitate the changes in performance were not reasonably foreseea-
ble at the time the contract was signed. The changes are germane to the original contract as
signed. This change order is in the best interests of the City of Elgin and authorized by law.
