RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 WITH ALAMP CONCRETE
CONTRACTORS, INC. FOR THE 2022 CENTRAL AREA RESURFACING PROJECT
(BID NO. 22-023)
WHEREAS,the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a contract with ALamp Concrete
Contractors, Inc. for the 2022 central area resurfacing project(Bid No. 22-023); and
WHEREAS,it is necessary and desirable to modify the terms of the contract as is described
in Change Order No. 1 attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN,ILLINOIS,that Richard G.Kozal,City Manager,be and is hereby authorized and directed
to execute Change Order No. 1, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by
reference.

CHANGE ORDER No. 1 AND FINAL
CONTRACT: 2022 Central Area Resurfacing Project(Bid No. 22-023)
SCOPE: This change order adds charges for additional work performed. This was a unit price Contract;
therefore, the Contractor was paid based on the actual completed work and quantities for each installed
item. An additional pay item is now being was added which was not part of the original contract. Be-
cause this is the Final change order for this contract, unused pay item costs are shown as deductions to
the contract amount.
The additional work performed includes:
• The removal and replacement of all combination curb and gutter on Hiawatha Dr, due to the
conditions of the previously existing combination curb and gutter.
• The replacement of pavement adjacent to Congdon Ave, as required under the permit issued by
the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways(CCDOTH).
• The replacement of sidewalk at the intersection of Hiawatha Dr and Congdon Ave, as required
under the permit issued by the CCDOTH.
• The installation of cast iron detectable warnings at sidewalk crossings at the intersection of Hia-
watha Dr and Congdon Ave, as required by the CCDOTH. This work item was not included in
the original contract pay items and was submitted to the City by the contractor in the form of an
Agreed Unit Price(AUP) quotation.
• The additional quantities relating to the removal and replacement of Hot Mix Asphalt(HMA) on
Hiawatha Dr due expanded project limits.
• The removal and replacement of the driveway apron at 1036 St. John St, which was damaged
during an unrelated water service line repair at this address.
REASONS FOR CHANGE:
Additional work was performed at the request of the City due to cost additions and deductions due to
variations in actual quantities supplied versus originally planned and anticipated quantities.
The circumstances said to necessitate the change in performance were not reasonably foreseeable at the
time the contract was signed. The changes germane to the original contract as signed, and this change
order is in the best interests of the City of Elgin and is authorized by law.

senting thirteen point one percent (13.1%) of the original contract amount. The new contract amount,
inclusive of all change orders is $924,581.74.
OTHER CONTRACT PROVISIONS: All other contract provisions remain the same.
