RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 WITH THE DAVEY TREE
EXPERT COMPANY FOR THE PARKWAY TREE TRIMMING CONTRACT
(BID NO.20-004)
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a contract with the Davey Tree
Expert Company for parkway tree trimming (Bid No. 20-004); and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to modify the terms of the contract as is described
in Change Order No. 1 attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that Richard G. Kozal, City Manager, be and is hereby authorized and directed to
execute Change Order No. 1, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.

Change Order
CONTRACT: The Davey Tree Expert Company Parkway Tree Trimming (Bid No. 20-004)
SCOPE: The contract consists of an original term of three years with two one-year optional renewals
for an annual amount not to exceed $135,000 and a total cost not to exceed $675,000. One year of the
agreement has elapsed. This change order adds to the Parkway Tree Trimming contract tree trimming in
the City s Bluff City Cemetery in an additional amount not to exceed $40,000 per year for the remaining
two years plus two optional years (if the option years are awarded) for a total annual amount not to ex-
ceed $175,000 per year and the total amount for the remaining two years and two options years (if
awarded) of not to exceed a total cost of $700,000. This will provide for additional trimming to be pro-
vided by the current contractor at the rates provided for in the current contract.
REASONS FOR CHANGE:
• The original contract scope was for citywide tree Trimming, not including cemetery work.
• Additional funding was located to allow for expansion of the scope of work of the original con-
tract to provide for additional trimming within the Bluff City Cemetery.
• This change order is germane to the original contract as signed, is in the best interests of the City
of Elgin, and is authorized by law.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT: The amount of the contract is being in-
creased for the remaining term of the contract by an amount not to exceed $40,000 per year from not to
exceed. $135,000 per year to an amount not to exceed $175,000 per year.
ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: NOT TO EXCEED $135,000 PER YEAR.

TOTAL FOR CHANGE ORDER NO, 1: NOT TO EXCEED AN ADDITIONAL $40,000 PER YEAR
TOTAL REVISED CONTRACT AMOUNT: NOT TO EXCEED $175,000 PER YEAR
The original annual amount of the contract with The Davey Tree Expert Company is for an amount not
to exceed $135,000 per year. This Change Order No. 1 will increase the original annual contract amount
by a total not to exceed $40,000 per year from the amount of not to exceed $135,000 per year to the total
amount not to exceed $175,000 per year for the remaining contract years; which sum represents an in-
crease of 29.63% of the original annual not to exceed contract amount. The total new total annual con-
tract amount, inclusive of all change orders, is an amount not to exceed $175,000 per year for the re-
maining two years of the contract plus two optional years (if the option years are awarded).
OTHER CONTRACT PROVISIONS: All other contract provisions remain the same,
