FOR 2019 MISCELLANEOUS CIVIL IMPROVEMENTS AT AIRLITE WATER TREATMENT PLANT AND SLADE WATER METER SHOP WHEREAS,the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a contract with Schroeder Asphalt Services, Inc. for 2019 miscellaneous civil improvements at the Airlite Water Treatment Plant and Slade Water Meter Shop; and WHEREAS,it is necessary and desirable to modify the terms of the contract as is described in Change Order No. 1 and Final attached hereto. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,ILLINOIS,that Richard G.Kozal,City Manager,be and is hereby authorized and directed to execute Change Order No. 1 and Final,a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference. s/David J. Civil Improvements(Airlite WTP& Slade Meter Shop) Bid No. 19-045 SCOPE: Installation of Bike Path Extension through the Slade Meter Shop south park area, which will be 327 feet in length by 10 feet in width. The path will include a 9.0 inch excavation, a 6.0 inch aggregate base, an 1.50 inch asphalt binder course, an 1.50 inch surface asphalt course, in- stallation of a 12.0 inch corrugated metal pipe culvert (15.0— linear feet length) and landscape restoration pursuant to the attached plan. The total price of the bike path work is $36,200; however, $11,226.46 in project savings from the Airlite WTP Parking lot upgrades will be uti- lized, which will bring the total of this change order to $24,973.54. REASONS FOR CHANGE: Staff recognized an opportunity to improve bike path continuity in conjunction with the Slade Meter Shop parking lot improvement project. The change order is germane to the original con- tract as signed. The change order is in the best interests of the City of Elgin and is authorized by law. SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT: New bike path addition is adding to scope of work and cost of project. ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $438,006.51 CHANGE ORDER NO. 001 Proposed New Bike Path $36,200.00 Credit at Airlite WTP (Quantity Adjustment) ($11,226.46) TOTAL FOR CHANGE ORDER NO. 001: ADD $24,973.54 PREVIOUS CHANGE ORDER(S): Change Order No. N/A $0.00 TOTAL OF PREVIOUS CHANGE ORDERS: ADD $0.00 TOTAL REVISED CONTRACT AMOUNT: $462,980.05 The original amount of the contract with Schroeder Asphalt is $438,006.51.This Change Order No. 1 will increase the original contract amount by a total of$24,973.54, that sum representing five and seven tenths percent(5.70%) of the original contract amount.The new contract amount, inclusive of this change order is$462,980.05.
