Subject: Change Order No. 1 and Final for Filter Media and Underdrain Replacement
Enclosed you will find Change Order No. 1 and Final for the Filter Media and Underdrain
Replacement Bid 19-037. The change was necessary to provide additional sand support media
upon discovery that the replacement underdrains were two inches shorter than the existing
underdrains. The total amount of the change order is $1,493.00, which is less than 1% of the
total contract amount.
The change order was reviewed by the legal department on February 6, 2020, and the
recommended changes have been incorporated.

CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 AND FINAL
CONTRACT: Filter Media and Underdrain Replacement(Bid No. 19-037)
SCOPE: Additional amount of support media to compensate for the difference in height of new under-
drains after installation.
REASONS FOR CHANGE: Purchase of an additional 545 cu. ft. of support media to bring the media
level of the filters to operation specifications,necessitated by the discovery of the previously existing
underdrain height.
• The circumstances said to necessitate the change in performance were not reasonably foreseeable
at the time the contract was signed;
• The change is germane to the original contract as signed;
• The change order is in the best interests of the City of Elgin and authorized by law.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT:
ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $906,520.00
CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 and FINAL

The original amount of the contract with All Service Contracting Corp. is $906,520.00. Change Order
No. 1 and previous change orders totaling$1,493.00 will increase the original contract amount by a total
of$1,493.00, that sum representing 0.16%of the original contract amount. The new contract amount,
inclusive of all change orders is $908,013.00.
OTHER CONTRACT PROVISIONS: All other contract provisions remain the same.
