Amendment to Traffic Ordinance Authorized to Provide for Two-hour
Parking on Certain Areas on Dundee Avenue and Seneca Street
The City Manager presented a petition from property owners in the Dundee Avenue
area from Summit to Hickory, asking that a one-half hour parking limit be estab-
lished on Dundee Avenue, between Summit and Hickory, and on Seneca, from Dundee
Avenue to St. John Street. The Traffic Division of the Police Department, recom-
tends that a two-hour zone be established in this area. Councilman Schultz made
a motion, seconded by Councilman Gavelek to authorize the Corporation Counsel to
prepare an amendment to the Traffic Ordinance to provide for two-hour parking on
Dundee, between Summit and Hickory, and on Seneca, from Dundee to St. John St.
Yeas: Councilmen Gavelek, Haverkampf, Johnston, Schultz, and Mayor Salisbury.
Nays: None.
The Council requested that the Police Department make a check of parking on
Summit Street, west of Dundee Avenue.
Organizational. Structure Approved for Parks, Recreation, and
Cemetery Activities
Mn Botch presented a memorandum to the Council outlining the Organizational
Structure, and Defining the Responsibility Assignments for Parks, Recreation.,
and Cemetery Activities. The regulations were approved and placed on file with
the City Clerk.
The appointment of Gene C. Kelly as the Director of Parks, Recreation, and
Cemetery was confirmed. He will begin duties about May 15, 1957.
Approve Investment of Cemetery Perpetual Care Funds
Councilman Gavelek made a motion, seconded by Councilman Johnston, to adopt a
resolution authorizing the investment of $10,000 which had accumulated in the
Property Lot Owner' s Perpetual Care and Improvement Fund of Bluff City Cemetery.
Yeas: Councilmen Gavelek, Haverkampf, Johnston, Schultz , and Mayor Salisbury.
Nays: None.
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING INVESTMENT OF CEMETERY PERPETUAL CARE FUNDS
WHEREAS, funds have accumulated in the Property Lot Owner' s Perpetual Care and
Improvement Fund of Bluff City Cemetery, and,
WHEREAS, by provision of Chapter 12, Section 26 of the City Code of Elgin, 1955,
any money accumulating in this Fund may be invested in interest bearing bonds of
the United States of America,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Treasurer of the City of Elgin be auth-
orized to invest the sum of $10,000 (Ten Thousand Dollars) in 37 United States
Treasury Bonds maturing February 15, 1995.

Approve Investment of Water Fund-Bond Reserve Funds
Councilman Schultz made a motion, seconded by Councilman Haverkampf, to adopt a
resolution authorizing the investment of$5 ,OOO which had accumulated in the Water
Fund-Bond Reserve Account. Yeas: Councilmen Gavelek, Haverkampf, Johnston, '
Schultz, and Mayor Salisbury. Nays: None.
