Stegall, City Manager cup do nmn,r s fa,,lrr ir Randy Reopelle, Parks and Recreation Director SUBJECT: Change Order No. 1 to Contract with Tennis Surfaces Company PURPOSE The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Mayor and members of the City Council with information to consider Change Order No.1 with Tennis Surfaces Company for the resurfacing of the tennis courts at St. Francis Park. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council approve Change Order No.1 with Tennis Surfaces Company in the amount of$6,000,making the total contract amount$20,900. BACKGROUND The City Council approved a contract with Tennis Surfaces Company in the amount of$14,900 in order to resurface six tennis courts at Judson University, which will be available to the residents of Elgin. The 2009 budget has allocated $26,000 for this work. Since the actual contract award was approximately $11,000 less than the budget allocated, and the two tennis courts at St. Francis Park were in need of being resurfaced,it was recommended that they should be resurfaced as part of this contract. The amount of the change order is reasonable considering that the cost per court of$3,000 for these additional courts is lower than other recent bids received for court resurfacing. The change order reflects a 40 percent increase to the original contract. COMMUNITY GROUPS/INTERESTED PERSONS CONTACTED None.
