SETTING FORTH THE SCHEDULE OF CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS FOR 2007
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS, that the foregoing City Council meetings shall be held in the City Council Chambers
in City Hall at 150 Dexter Court, Elgin, Illinois 60120.

SUBJECT: Schedule of 2007 City Council Meetings
PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to transmit to the Mayor and members of the City Council a
proposed Resolution Setting Forth the Schedule of City Council Meetings for 2007.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the adoption of the resolution.
BACKGROUND
The City Council is required to adopt a resolution setting forth its meeting dates for 2007. The
Council regularly meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. The attached
resolution sets forth such meeting dates with the exception of the month of December, 2007,
when the meetings are scheduled for the first and third Wednesday of December.
The City Council may wish to be aware of the fact that spring break for School District U-46 is
March 26 through March 30, 2007. The second meeting in March on the attached resolution is
currently set forth as the fourth Wednesday being March 28, 2007.
If meetings are rescheduled after a meeting schedule is adopted, there are restrictions on the
business which may be conducted. Therefore such revisions as may be anticipated now should be
made at this time.

LEGAL IMPACT
Schedule of regular meetings must be established to comply with Open Meetings Act.
ALTERNATIVES
1. The City Council could approve the schedule as presented.
2. The City Council could consider a different meeting schedule.
