RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION AND ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT OF EASEMENT
FOR WATER MAIN PURPOSES FROM RYAN COMPANIES US, INC.
FOR RANDALL CROSSING BUSINESS PARK OF ELGIN

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,ILLINOIS,that
Ed Schock, Mayor, and Dolonna Mecum, City Clerk, be and are hereby authorized and directed to
execute a grant of easement for water main purposes from Ryan Companies US,Inc.for the property
located on the southwest corner of Alft Lane and Alft Court in Randall Crossing Business Park of
Elgin and depicted on Exhibit A, a copy of which is attached hereto.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to cause
the plat of easement to be recorded in the office of the Recorder of Deeds of Kane County, Illinois.

SUBJECT: Plat of Easement Grant for Water Main on Property Owned by Ryan Companies
US, Inc. ��� p
PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Mayor and members of the City Council with
information to consider the acceptance of an easement grant for water main on property owned
by Ryan Companies US, Inc. The subject property is located on the southwest corner of Alft
Lane and Alft Court in Randall Crossing Business Park of Elgin.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council accept the Plat of Easement Grant by Ryan Companies
US, Inc. for water main and authorize staff to execute the necessary documents.
BACKGROUND
Ryan Companies US, Inc. is developing the land they own on the southwest corner of Alft Lane
and Alft Court (northwest of Randall Road and Big Timber intersection). Development plans
call for a water main to be constructed (looped) around the property to serve the parcel which
will have a public benefit to the water system in the area. The developer is proposing to place the
water main in an easement to allow for City ownership and maintenance of the water main
regardless of the ownership of the parcel. Staff recommends that the City accept this easement.
A location map is included as Exhibit A for your reference.

cy...FINANCIAL IMPACT
There are no immediate costs to the City for acquiring the easement. A cost for recording the
document of$75.00 will be paid by the City and reimbursed by the developer. Recording the
easement will be funded from the Engineering Operating Budget in the General Fund, account
number 010-3311-752.32-05, "Legal Recording Fees" with$500 budgeted and $510 available.

2. Do not accept the Plat of Easement for Water Main. This action will make it difficult to
maintain existing public water main.
