HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-307 Resolution No. 05-307 RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE PROPOSED SHERMAN HOSPITAL CENTER STREET REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT AND NEW REPLACEMENT HOSPITAL AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF RANDALL ROAD AND BIG TIMBER ROAD WHEREAS, Sherman Hospital has proposed the redevelopment of its Center Street campus and the construction of a replacement hospital at the northeast corner of Randall Road and Big Timber Road in Elgin, Illinois; and WHEREAS, the plan for the redevelopment of the Center Street campus would provide for immediate care open 24 hours a day 365 days a year, high level imaging services, including MRI, ultrasound and CT scanning, doctors offices, dialysis, out-patient laboratory and x-ray services, out-patient rehabilitation including physical therapy, home care offices and related support functions; and WHEREAS, the plans for the new Sherman Hospital replacement hospital at the northeast corner of Randall Road and Big Timber Road in Elgin, Illinois would provide for the construction of a new state of the art hospital facility with many benefits to serve the growing population of the area including increasing the community's access to quality health care, an upgraded emergency department, attracting quality physicians and healthcare employees to the region and creating nearly 3,000 construction jobs and additional employment opportunities in the health care sector. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS that the City of Elgin hereby expresses its support of the proposed Sherman Hospital Center Street campus redevelopment and the new replacement hospital to be constructed at the northeast corner of Randall Road and Big Timber Roads in Elgin, Illinois and urges approval of such proposals. s/Ed Schock Ed Schock, Mayor Presented: October 26, 2005 Adopted: October 26, 2005 Omnibus Vote: Yeas: 7 Nays: 0 Attest: s/Dolonna Mecum Dolonna Mecum, City Clerk
