RESOLUTION
ACCEPTING A PLAT OF DEDICATION FOR PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY
(Big Timber Road)
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,ILLINOIS,that it
hereby accepts a certain plat of dedication for public right-of-way prepared by Alan J.Coulson,P.C.,
an Illinois Land Surveyor,and dated August 8,2005 by the Surveyor Charles J.Hill,for the property
legally described as follows:
Part of the Southeast quarter of Section 4, Township 41 North, Range 8 East of the
Third Principal Meridian, in the City of Elgin, Kane County, Illinois.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized and directed
to cause said plat of dedication to be filed with the Recorder of Deeds of Kane County, Illinois.

SUBJECT: Acceptance of Dedication of Public Right-of-Way from Big Timber Road, LLC
and Union National Bank.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Mayor and members of the City Council with
information to consider the acceptance of public right of way for Big Timber Road.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council accept the Plat of Dedication of public right-of-way on
Big Timber Road and authorize staff to execute the necessary document.
BACKGROUND
Big Timber Road, LLC is the developer of the new industrial building at 1895 Big Timber Road.
The building is on the south side of Big Timber, west of Todd Farm Drive and east of North Lyle
Avenue. Most of Big Timber Road, between McLean Boulevard and Randall Road, has a right
of way of at least 40 feet to the centerline with the exception of the above referenced
development where it is 33 feet. To aid in obtaining a consistent right-of-way width for future
road improvements, the developer has agreed to provide the additional 7 feet of right-of-way
along the frontage of Big Timber Road to create a total of 40 feet of half right-of-way.

ANCIAL IMPACT
The document recording cost of$50 for acquiring the right of way will be paid by the City
reimbursed by the developer. The expense will be charged to the General Fund, Engine

Division, account number 010-3311-752.32-05, "Legal Recording Fees"where there is currently
$576.00 budgeted and$469.00 available.
LEGAL IMPACT
None.
ALTERNATIVES
1. Accept the Plat of Dedication of Public Right of Way.
2. Do not accept the Plat of Dedication of Public Right of Way. This action will impede
future improvements to Big Timber Road.
