RESOLUTION
ACCEPTING A PLAT OF DEDICATION FOR PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY
(Remington Meadows Subdivision--Kyra Lane)
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,ILLINOIS,that it
hereby accepts a certain plat of dedication for public right of way prepared by Edward A.Hedge,an
Illinois Land Surveyor, signed on September 28, 2005, drafted on August 1, 2005, for the property
legally described as follows:
A PART OF LOTS 305, 306, 307, 308 AND 309 IN REMINGTON MEADOWS,
BEING A SUBDIVISION OF PART OF THE SOUTHWEST V4 OF SECTION 19
ALL IN TOWNSHIP 41 NORTH,RANGE 8 EAST OF THE THIRD PRINCIPAL
MERIDIAN IN ELGIN TOWNSHIP, RECORDED DECEMBER 3, 2004 AS
DOCUMENT 2004K155378 DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: COMMENCING AT
THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF SAID LOT 305; THENCE SOUTH 86
DEGREES 44 MINUTES 04 SECONDS EAST ALONG THE NORTH LINE OF
SAID LOT 305 FOR 64.77 FEET TO THE PLACE OF BEGINNING; THENCE

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized and directed
to cause said plat of dedication to be filed with the Recorder of Deeds of Kane County, Illinois.

SUBJECT: Acceptance of Plat of Dedication for Additional Right of Way at Kyra Lane
PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Mayor and members of the City Council with
information to consider the acceptance of Plat of Dedication for additional right of way at Kyra
Lane.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council accept the additional right of way dedication, authorize
the Mayor to execute the Plat of Dedication, and direct staff to prepare the necessary resolution.
BACKGROUND
The Plat of Subdivision for Remington Meadows included the dedication of Kyra Lane which
incorporated a fifty five foot radius cul-de-sac at the east end. At the same time, the engineering
plans for the Remington Meadows subdivision were designed based on a sixty foot radius cul-de-
sac. In order to keep the public improvements within the public right of way, it is necessary to
increase the dedication by five feet (in diameter). This plat of dedication will add the five feet to
the cul-de-sac radius needed to allow the construction of the subdivision per approved
engineering plans, keeping all the public improvements within the public right of way.
A location map is included in Attachment A for reference.

None.
( INANCIAL IMPACT
There is no cost to the City for accepting the additional right of way. A cost for recording the
document of $50.00 will be paid by the City and reimbursed by the Remington Homes, the

developer. The expense will be charged to the General Fund, Engineering Division budget,
account number 010-3311-752.32-05, "Legal Recording Fees" where there is currently $500.00
budgeted and $490.00 available.

ALTERNATIVES
1. Accept the additional right of way dedication for Kyra Lane at the cul-de-sac.
2. Do not accept the additional right of way dedication for Kyra Lane at the cul-de-sac.
This option will force to redesign the public improvements, which will delay the
construction.
