RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A FIRST AMENDED
EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT WITH LEONA OLLIE LYNETTE PEARL
FOR SERVICES AS A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASE MANAGER
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS, that Joyce A. Parker, City Manager, and Dolonna Mecum,
City Clerk, be and are hereby authorized and directed to execute
a First Amended Employment Agreement on behalf of the City of
Elgin with Leona 011ie Lynette Pearl for services as a domestic
violence case manager, a copy of which is attached hereto and
made a part hereof by reference .

FIRST AMENDED EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT
This first amended employment agreement is hereby made
and entered into this 133 day of November, 2001 , by and
between the City of Elgin, Illinois, a municipal corporation
(hereinafter referred to as "City" ) , and Leona Pearl
(hereinafter referred to as "Pearl") .
WHEREAS, the parties hereto have previously entered into
an employment agreement dated 10 _( (p , 2001, a copy of
which is attached hereto as Attachment "A" (hereinafter
referred to as "Original Agreement" ) ; and
WHEREAS, the parties hereto have each determined it to be
in their best interests to amend such agreement to provide
retirement benefits to Pearl .
NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promises
and covenants contained herein, the sufficiency of which is
hereby acknowledged, the parties hereto hereby agree that
Original Agreement shall be and is hereby amended in that
Section 4 (b) is amended to provide Illinois Municipal
Retirement Fund Benefits in addition to those benefits
currently provided by original agreement .

SUBJECT: Amended Employment Agreement with Leona Pearl
PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Mayor and members
of the City Council with information to approve the amendment to
the Employment Agreement with Leona Pearl, with regard to the
addition of Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Benefits .
BACKGROUND
Leona Pearl is the Domestic Violence Case Manager hired under an
Employment Agreement funded from grant funds . She handles cases
involving domestic violence victims/families and helps them get the
assistance that they need. She will coordinate with the Police
Training Coordinator to develop training relevant to Domestic
Violence investigation and reporting techniques . The previously
approved Employment Agreement with Leona Pearl erroneously omitted
the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund benefit . The Illinois
Municipal Retirement Fund benefit was originally included as part
of the Grant Agreement with the State of Illinois . .
