Diane you probably have it listed under the original organization's name- Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority. In 2006 the name was changed to ISPAN. Joe Bush emailed me details on what IPSAN provides us.This is a required service. ALECS: Alecs is a program that is run on the computers inside the police department building. It allows us to connect to the State of Illinois computer system to check information related to people ( i.e., Drivers License, Secretary of State information, etc) and Vehicles ( i.e., License plate checks,VIN checks)just to name a few. ALERTS: ALERTS is the wireless network access provided to the Police and Fire mobile computers. This service is paid for by the E911 account, as this service provides emergency call information to the Police and Fire units. On the Police computers, this service also provides the same connection access to the State of Illinois computer system as mentioned in ALECS. LSI: The software application that utilizes the ALERTS wireless network is called PMDC. The PMDC software is purchased and supported by the State of Illinois. The State of Illinois requires that we pay maintenance on the PMDC software of$5.00 per unit per month to pay for the support that they provide. All of these are billed at 6 month intervals.
