Ordinance No. S5-74
AN ORDINANCE
VACATING PORTIONS OF GALE STREET
WHEREAS, the northern section of Gale Street, from South Street to the
Sanitary District Lift Station was dedicated for public street purposes to
provide access to the lift station; and
WHEREAS, said dedication included two, 30 foot squares_abutting the
public street to provide vehicle turnaround space at what`was then the
termination point of Gale Street; and _ _
WHEREAS, Gale Street is now a through street and said turnaround
spaces are no longer necessary or desirable; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to vacate said turnaround spaces.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY`OF ELGIN, -
ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That those parts of Gale Street described as follows be -----
and are hereby vacated reserving from said vacation any public service
facilities, rights-of-ways and easements owned by the City of Elgin or
any public utility:
That part of the Northwest Quarter of Section 21, Town-
ship 41 North, Range 8 East of the Third Principal Meridian
and part of College Park Unit No. 4, being a Subdivision of
part of said Section 21, being described as follows: Beginning
at the most Westerly corner of Lot 89 in said College Park
Unit No, 4; thence Northeasterly along the Northwesterly line
of said Lot 89, a distance of 30.0 feet; thence Southeasterly
at right angles to the last described course, a distance of
30.0 feet; thence Southwesterly parallel with the Northwesterly
line of said Lot 89, a distance of 30.0 feet; thence Northwesterly
along the Southwesterly line of said Lot 89, a distance of 30.0
feet to the place of beginning. Also that part described as
follows: Commencing at the most Westerly corner of said Lot 89;
thence Southwesterly along the Northwesterly line, extended South-
westerly of said Lot 89, a distance of 60.00 feet for the place of
beginning; thence Southeasterly at right angles to the last described
course, a distance of 30.00 feet; thence Southwesterly at right ,
angles to the last descx...bed course; a distant —6f-30-;00 feet;
thence Northwesterly at right angles to the last described course,
a distance of 30.00 feet to the Southeasterly line of land
conveyed to the Sanitary District of Elgin, thence Northeasterly
along said Southeasterly line, a distance of 30.00, feet to the place
of beginning. Being situated in the City of Elgin, Kane County,
Illinois.
Section 2. That a Plat of Survey of said vacated areas shall be prepared
by a registered land surveyor and filed with the Recorder of Deeds of Kane
County, Illinois.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage in the manner provided by law.
