Dorgan, City Manager I�V►�' `I_ fl[C REATIO NAL LEISVRE Lynn Robbins, Centre Manager """ . � , PPCNt`'"'T'Es SUBJECT: Three Month Membership and Seven Day Pass for The Centre PURPOSE The purpose of this memorandum is toprovide the Mayor and members of P P Y the City Council with information to consider creating a three month membership and a seven day consecutive pass option for The Centre of Elgin. BACKGROUND Currently, The Centre does not offer a three month membership option. There is interest for this type of membership from college students home for summer vacation and retired individuals who move to a warmer climate during the winter and are in the Elgin area for summer. Many area health and fitness centers offer this membership option. This membership will only be available between the months of May through October. The seven day (consecutive day) pass would be utilized by the hotels/motels and the business industry in the area that may have guests or clients in Elgin for the week and would desire use of a fitness facility. This seven day pass would also be beneficial to the college student home on holidays or for visiting family members. This pass would be a consecutive, seven day pass and must be used within seven days of purchase. This pass is non-transferable . The three month membership fee was developed at a 20% increase over the annual membership rate then divided by 4 . This convenience warrants a slight additional increase to offset administrative costs . The seven day pass was developed by multiplying the daily all-facility rate by four. We feel a patron, on average, will use The Centre three to four times in that seven day period. The proposed fees are outlined on Attachment B and a comparison on neighboring and/or comparable Park District facilities is outlined on Attachment A.
