PROJECT: Police Facility Exterior Cleaning
CHANGE ORDER No. 1 and Final
CONTRACT: Police Facility Exterior Cleaning (Job Order Contr. t Approved June 13,2018)
SCOPE: A masonry sealer was added to all of the exterior masonr surfaces to help protect them from
moisture and dirt in the future. This should extend the life of the be k and the frequency of the cleaning.
REASONS FOR CHANGE: While working on the exterior clean'ig of the police facility we looked
for ways to extend the life of the work being done. It was decided t i at adding a sealer to the masonry
after the cleaning should help protect against future moisture and d'i t. Since the masons were on site do-
ing the cleaning it made the most sense to apply the sealer immedia ely before the brick could re-soil.
With the contractor already on site with lifts and other necessary eq iipment it made the application of
the sealer more cost effective than coming in to do it at a later date.
• The circumstances said to necessitate the change in perform:mice were not reasonably foreseeable
at the time the contract was signed
• The change is germane to the original contract as signed
• The change order is in the best interests of the City of Elgin and authorized by law
