HomeMy WebLinkAbout17-159 Resolution No. 17-159 RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE CITY OF ELGIN'S STRATEGIC PRINCIPLES AND PRIORITIES 2018-2022 WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has previously adopted a 2013-2017 Strategic Plan; and WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has conducted an extensive dialogue with the Strategic Plan Advisory Commission to develop a successor plan for Strategic Principles and Priorities for 2018- 2022; and WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted extensive budget reviews and policy discussions throughout the months of November and December; and WHEREAS, the Strategic Principles and Priorities 2018-2022 establishes the City Council's strategic principles and priorities; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that the attached Strategic Principles and Priorities 2018-2022, is hereby adopted as a policy document of the city to serve as the framework for the setting of strategic principles and priorities, departmental operational planning, budget development and resource allocation. s/David J. In the years following the Great Recession, the City of Elgin significantly reduced its workforce while still maintaining the same levels of core services.While challenging, the organizational environment promoted adaptability and teamwork to determine new methods of continuing to meet the needs of Elgin's residents and businesses. Now that higher levels of economic stability have returned, the City is encouraged to refine its definition of a high performing organization to ensure continued progress.
