HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017 Minutes_Minutes_SPAC_2017-09-26 MINUTES Strategic Plan Advisory Commission Tuesday, September 26, 2017 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. City Hall, 2nd Floor Conference Room Commission members present: Bill Briska, Armida Dominguez, Jeanette Mihalec, Dan Miller, Carolyn O’Neal, Judy DiFulvio, Todd Martin, Dustin Good, Dennis Verges Commission members absent: Steve Knight, Sara Sabo Members of the public: Dave Segel, Sustainability Commission Staff: Rick Kozal, city manager ; Laura Valdez-Wilson, staff liaison; Karina Nava, management fellow A. Chairmain Briska call ed the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. B. Roll call was read by staff liaison Laura Valdez-Wilson. C. SPAC approved the meeting minutes from August with a 9-0 vote. Todd Martin moved to approve with a 2nd from Carolyn O’Neal. D. City staff provided updates about the budget presentations at the city council’s workshop on September 16 where city departments presented service reductions and revenue options in light of an expected budget deficit in 2018 and beyond. E. Staff liaison Valdez-Wilson provided an overview about the city’s recent community survey. SPAC encouraged the city to market the overall plan due to the excellent results. Valdez-Wilson will send the results to the SPAC after the city council hears the results publically on September 27. F. The commission discussed the preliminary draft of the strategic priority areas. Notes are attached to these minutes and will be used in the development of the next draft. Laura asked the group to convene earlier in October to workshop a revised version of the strategic plan. The group scheduled a meeting for October 10 at 6 p.m. with the location to be sent at a later date. G. The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m. by Jeanette Mihalec, with a 2nd by Dan Miller.
