May I"at 6pm in the Heritage Ballroom at The Centre. SWAN is planning on hosting a
Trolley tour of the area's Sears Homes on one of the Saturdays. "Preserving the Written
Word" Book Fair organized by George Rowlinson will be held May 4ch at Prairie Rock.
Museum Day is May 15`h and several activities are planned at the Elgin Historical Society
including a behind the scenes tour and Brown bag Lunch Lecture with Mayor Schock. The
EHS will also sponsor a bus tour of Glessner House located in the Prairie Ave District in
Chicago. DNA is thinking of sponsoring a "Holy Hill" tour. Commissioner Couture
mentioned that a new group called `Arches' will premier on May 5`h. This group will focus
on preserving Elgin's non-residential buildings. The theme of this year's Preservation Month
is `Preservation Matters.'
Commissioner Couture, Commissioner Chapman, Commissioner Briska, and Chairperson
Pepa all volunteered to be on an Ad Hoc committee to recap the successes of the past year
and develop a way to market them during Preservation Month.
Commissioner Chapman mentioned that an award should be given to Sarosh Saher for his
many years of dedicated service and possibly one posthumously to George Albee.
F. Other Business.
1. Rick Krocza: Commissioner Krocza announced his resignation from the commission. He
expressed his sincere love for the commission and regret that he would be leaving, but feels
he is not able to dedicate enough time to the commission. Jennifer wondered out loud if she
was driving commissioners away with two meetings under her belt and two commissioners
resigning.
G. Correspondence.
No items were discussed under correspondence.
H. Adjournment:
Motion made by Commissioner Krocza to adjourn.
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Ristow.
The motion passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
