April 1, 2008
F. Other Business.
1. Dave Buck: Mr. Buck presented two RFP's to the commission to consider funding the
nomination application for Wing Park Golf Course to the National Register of Historic
Places. The first proposal is from Granacki and Associates for$7500. The second proposal
is from Jean Guarino-Clark for$5500.
Durrenberger: Granacki knows the process and has worked in Elgin before.
D. Miller: The city should pay for it using boat finds or the Parks/recreation
Department.
Briska: Some things in life are worth paying for, like having a dentist pull your wisdom
teeth instead of doing it yourself. I would be agreeable to paying half with another city
entity.
D. Buck: This is a rare opportunity to recognize our non-architectural heritage.
Chapman: I think we should split the cost with Parks and Recreation.
Commissioner Briska moved to spend up to $2500 in conjunction with another city department to
pursue the national register nomination of Wing Park Golf Course.
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Ristow and passed unanimously.
2. Lindbergh School Compilation: Commissioner Briska presented a proposal to fund the
publishing of a book by Mr. John Russell Ghrist that complies the all the history of the
Lindbergh School. The book will be available to the public at libraries and 1 copy will be at
the Library of Congress. The cost is $225.
Commissioner Durrenberger moved to fund the Lindbergh School Compilation Book at a
cost of$225.
Commissioner Ristow seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
