HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCDATE=SEPTEMBER 30, 2008 (7) Carl Missele noted that one burn is included in 2009 and that to be successful in getting rid of invasive species five years of burns would be needed from what has been communicated to him. He also noted that the parking is important for use of the Nature Center. There currently are only about 5 paved parking spaces. Paul noted that experts say a minimum of three years of burns is required to be successful. Each year the cost would decrease. It was noted to add burns to the five-year plan for 2010 and 2011. Scott Palmer asked what the cost difference is between use of eco pavers and asphalt. Paul noted the recent increase in cost of asphalt. Eco pavers are still a little more costly but allow water to seep down into the ground. Karen Sauter suggested that it is better to install a `bubble up' aerator to oxygenate the pond. Randy noted that is the type of aerator being looked at. Paul noted that an entryway sign off Randall Road needs to be included in the plan for 2009 at cost of approximately $10,000. He also communicated that the permit application should be moved up a year due to the length of time required to get through the permitting process. MOTION: Carl Missele motioned to adopt the five-year phase-in plan and concept plan with changes outlined during review. Norm Weber second. Motion carried unanimously. Randy Reopelle noted that the phases and concept should be posted at the Nature Center and an update provided to neighbors who attended the public input meeting. VI. Director's Reports: No questions or comments from the Advisory Board members were noted. VII. Miscellaneous: A. Northeast Neighborhood Association (NEMA) Request- Lords Park Pavilion Fee Waiver for October 24, 2008: MOTION: Carl Missele motioned to approve NENA's request to ),vaive rental fees for the Lords Park Pavilion reservation on October 24, 2008. Norm Weber seconded. Motion carried unanimously. B. Scott Palmer corrununicated that one of the Little League organizations inquired what the City's stance on sponsorship was. Scott Palmer noted that the organizations were given 7 years, of which there is about Give years remaining. Mike Bailey noted that the signs are to be removed due to the nature of the signage, which advertises a business. Advertising signage is not allowed in City parks. Page 3
