D. Should be raised panel designs, with a solid core, if proposed to be in metal designs. Flush design doors unless retrofitted to look like traditional doors and hollow core metal doors should be avoided when possible. E. If windows are necessary, they should be simple in design with clear glass. Muntins in a simple design may also be used. Staff Recommendation: Based on evidence submitted, staff recommends approval of the COA to replace the overhead garage door with the following conditions: 1. The replacement door must be solid steel or wood. 2. The design needs to be raised panel with a row of windows. 3. The replacement door must fit the existing opening. Millikan: Door was not operational; could not open to determine the condition of the interior portion of the garage door. Design requested by the owner is the basic steel raised four panel doors. Three rows of raised panels, plus.a top row of windows. Stroud: The original doors would have either opened up (like double doors) or have rolled on a track(to the left and to the right). if possible, the style/look of the doors should be kept. Also, if the visibility is not high, we could consider this option. Millikan: With no cars in the driveway, the garage is visible from the street. Gertrude Marshall (owner): Checked at Menard's, I did not see a door style that is more in kind of the existing door. John: The door style indicated on Page G (Co-Play) looks more appropriate. Walden: Copy of page given to homeowner. Owner: Willing to consider the.garage door design (Page G) as an option. Motion made by Commissioner Briska to approve as submitted. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Roxworthy. The motion passed unanimously. 519 S. Liberty St.—Front porch railings The property owner previously received approval from the committee to construct a new front porch. That approval did not include handrails for the front porch stairs. The owner is now requesting approval to install handrails on the front porch stairs that will match the guard rail for the porch which has already been approved. The porch will wrap around the front of the house and the stairs will be constructed on the south side of the two sided porch. The porch plans provide details on the design of the railings and columns. The handrails and balusters on the stairs will use this same design. A design for the newel posts are also attached with the exhibits.
