update on Housing issue in Elgin.
Coal Novotny is waiting on information from Chicago regarding the "Set-Aside'
program in which a percentage of contracts for city work set aside for local, minority -
business.
Cmmr. Alper reminded the Commission of the upcoming Loa New Year event Sunday,
April 24, 2005 at the Hammers Cultural Center.
Staff will contact Elgin Township, Doug Johnson to get more Information about their
Health & Wellness Luncheon.
New Business
Staff provided a memo from John Lukehart, National Center on Poverty Law, Source of
income bill, H845-and SB167. This bill will amend the Illinois Human Rights Ad by
adding a new category of persons protected from discrimination in residential rental reel
estate transactions: legal source of income.
• Normal. Scott stated that Source of Income has been an ongoing topic forthe
Commission and should be presented to the Council each year. The Commission will
review the document and discuss at their neat meeting.
