Dr. Martin Luther King Program Update
Cmmr. Lewis informed the Commission that the program starts on Thursday.
The Prayer Breakfast speaker is AI Sampson. The Public Program will be a
dramalivation of the Life of Dr. King from beginning to end. This will include music and
dancing.

Cmmr. Pickens made the. motion, seconded by Cmmr Scott to approve the payment for
services rendered for the Prayer Breakfast and the Public Program as follows:
• Al Sampson - $250
Bettye Lewis - $75
Genesis Connection - 1800
spirit - $800
Trinity United Church of Christ - $700
Second Baptist Church of Elgin - $25
The motion carried. 5-0
Chair Sautt mentioned that the Hurnanitadan Awards will he presented at the Prayer
Breakfast on Saturday. Three awards will be given to the following individuals and/or
husinesses.
1. Donald Shank — Church of the Brethren
2. Josephine Bailey— Teacher for District U-40
3 Ecker Center
The tetters have gone out to notify the Humanitarian winners.
Cmmr. Scott informed the Commission that Cavor. Powers raised $2000 to be given out
his scholarships.
• Cmmr. Dews invited everyone to attend the celebration this weekend.
