Kaptain, Mayor Presented: December 4, 2013 Adopted: December 4, 2013 Omnibus Vote: Yeas: 9 Nays: 0 Attest: s/Kimberly Dewis Kimberly Dewis, City Clerk City of Elgin Change Order ELGIN,ILLINOIS PROJECT #39606G CHANGE ORDER No. 1 and FINAL CONTRACT: 2013 Sidewalk Repair Program Bid 13-043 SCOPE: The initial scope of the work was for sidewalk repair. Due to unforeseen circumstances de- scribed below, the final work product differed slightly from the initial scope of the project. REASONS FOR CHANGE: In several instances the adjacent sidewalk was undermined, re- quiring the removal and replacement at those locations. The contractor also found instances where there was rebar tying the adjoining sidewalk squares together, requiring that additional sidewalk squares be removed and replaced. Several sidewalk squares were also replaced be- cause they had been damaged from water service line repairs and were in the area immediate- ly adjacent to the sidewalk repair area. The circumstances said to necessitate the change in per- formance were not reasonably foreseeable at the time the contract was signed. Additionally, the requested changes to the contract are germane to the original contract as signed. This change order is in the best interests of the city and is authorized by law. SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT: The contract is being amended as to cost; the scope of the original contract did not change however the additional necessary work added increased the cost of the total project.
