Trim:
Fermin Villagomez (owner): Brought sample of trim for commission to view.
Miller: Where will this trim be placed?
Cole: Trim for the windows.
Stroud: Looks to be typical cove molding.
Miller: is this to be on placed the 1x4 or along the board?
Cole: It is on the 1 x4 board.
Miller: If buying 1 x4 boards, the actual dimension will only be 3/a x 3 ``/2".
Cole: Purchasing 5/4 boards for a true 1 inch board.
Miller: Same board should be around the doors, window and trims
Stroud: Hardy board will stick out further then cedar siding. Thick trim will be needed
to be appropriate. Any water seepage will cause problems. Trim must be more than the
overlap. Hardy board is prone to failure with any water. Have you with hardy board
previously?
Cole: Yes, I understand it will need a thicker trim.
Stroud: It may even need to be doubled up.
Wiedmeyer: One inch trim will be okay. Hardy board is usually 5/16" (two lapped
together).
Miller: Store bought is 3/a".
Weidmeyer: One inch thickness; 5/4" trim will give the required thickness needed.
Miller: Width of the trim?
Cole: A 5/4"board is a true 4" wide board.
Miller: Concerned about the lumber edges. This application should have square edges.
Cole: Cedar boards have square edges.
Stroud: Generally they are square. Please confirm the edges are square.
Miller: Prefer to work off the drawing submitted within the packet. Window is shown
with a 1 over 1 design; and the service door has 4 panels.
Stroud: I would suggest a I over 1 door; either a single pane or no window.
Cole: Service door proposed is a 4 panel (brochure shown to commissioners).
Stroud: Based on the style of the house from the late 1870's to early 1880's, a window
would have been typical in a lover 1 style.
Garage Overhead Door:
Cole: Pamphlet of garage doors styles brought for commission to review.
Roxworthy: Square corners or square trim (Stockton door shown in pamphlet), no arch
designs.
Miller: Gable shows Mm on (drawing"G" from packet); the new drawing does not.
Molding is important. Need to use a bed molding with 1x6 trim.
Owner: Willing to install the bed molding and 1x6 trim.
Wiedmeyer: If door is changed with the Stockton door, then the original drawing only
needs to reflect a single overhead door.
Motion made by Commissioner Roxworthy to approve as amended (drawing "G" with a
10/12,pitch roof and the Stockton model overhead door).
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Waden.
The motion passed unanimously.
