2. The new windows shall match the existing window openings.
The window lites shall be `true' or simulated divided lites. Snap-on mullions are not
allowed.
Pedro Martinez(owner)was in attendance of tonight's meeting.
Stroud: This request for window replacement should have details of the windows being
considered by the owner.
Briska: Are there window hoods over all the windows?
Wiedmeyer: Matching molding at top of hoods?
Julio Valentine (contractor): Yes the moldings will be matched on all windows.
Stroud: The COA will need to be amended to add window hoods and trim.
Wiedmeyer: Trim should match style and trim of existing windows.
Roxworthy: Are these original windows?
Valentine: Some have been replaced.
Stroud: When the trim is removed, the old trim maybe beneath the existing trim boards.
If old trim does exist, you will need to replicate that trim/molding.
Wiedmeyer: Sill replacements?
Valentine: Will be between a 1-1 '/2 inch true measurement board for sills.
Motion made by Commissioner Briska to approve as recommended by staff with
amendment to trim (repair old trim if found under the existing if possible; replicate trim
and window hoods).
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Roxworthy.
The motion passed unanimously.
431 Prairie St.— Garage doors, trim details
THIS ITEM WAS TABLED AT THE AUGUST I2 T"MEETING FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
The property owner has submitted a Certificate of Appropriateness to replace the garage.
The current garage is not big enough for two cars. The newgarage will be placed further
back on the lot and will be wider. At the last DRS meeting the property owner agreed to
clapboard siding, a four panel service door, aluminum-clad one-over-one windows, and
10:12 roof pitch. Revisions to the exterior details for consideration include the trim,
overhead door, and gable detail.
Elgin Design Guideline Manual Specifications:
New Construction - Garage
A. should be smaller in scale than the dwelling; clearly secondary in nature.
B. should be simple in design but reflecting the general character of the associated
dwelling. For example, use gable roof forms if the dwelling has a gable roof,
hipped roof forms if the dwelling has a hipped roof etc.
C. should be built at traditional locations for outbuildings in the locally designated
districts. These include at rear lot lines, adjacent to alleys, and at the back side of
a dwelling;
D. should be compatible in design, shape, materials, and roof shape to the associated
dwelling;
