• Director ptoses reported that the 111 inois National Einereency Association (INENA), Associated
Public Safety Officials (illi the Illinois Association of Chic& of Police (IAC.P), the Illinois
Sheriffs AssociatirenQSA) and other associations formed a committee and net in Springfcid
122/99 to discuss an action plan to try to get wire less 911 legislation passed in the next leg isIativC
session which begins in January 1995.

John Kelly, EVENA Anomey, Oreg Sullivan, Exec. Director Illinois Sheriffs Association; and
Dallas ingemunson, Attorney& former States Attorney of Knrdail County I he committee also
plans to meet with legislators in both the House and Senate and get sponsors for the INEN.A

• The INFNA Executive board recently passed a resolution ucommending that all Public Safety
Answering Points (PSAP's) Stop accepting wireless 911 Odle if wireless legislation does not pass in
this legislatisx session. APCO and NENA feel if 20 to 30% of the PSAWS follow suis the cellular
companies witl be forced to back the lugislation. St Claire County backs the same position as
Kendall County. The hoard ditetrssed the ENENA resolution and recognizes the importance of a
statewide united stand on the issue. The board Will reconsldcrthiS if legislm'mn does notpassin
this legislative session.
Mother option discussed among PSAP'S is training the Cellular companies to contract with
PSAP's for wireless 911 service. Sc Claire Cuunty still be going forward with this option as of
