Wanda Urban of 605 Thoreau,Elgin, spokesperson for the group, addressed the Council with reference to their concerns about School District U -46's plans to construct a bus barn adjacent to their property. Various other Parkwood residents addressed the Council with reference to this matter. They are very concerned about the effect this will have on traffic, noise, pollution, and property values. They came to the Council because they did not feel that their concerns were being addressed by U -46 officials. They were told that although the school district must meet certain state standards, it is not required to meet the city's standards, and the city really has no authority over the school district. However, City Manager, Larry Rice, informed the Parkwood residents that the city staff would contact U -46 in an attempt to assist with responding to their concerns.
