HISTORY
The City of Elgin was incorporated February 28, 1854; City Hall,
202 East Chicago Street, built 1892; demolished 1969. L and for
Civic Center acquired in 1965. New Municipal Building occupied
November 29, 1968.
An Act to Provide for the Incorporation of Cities and Villages
Adopted by the City of Elgin October 18, 1880.
