BACKGROUND
Since 1994, the City Council has approved a series of one-year agreements with Pace to provide
Dial-a-Ride services to the residents of Elgin and the surrounding area. Through this program,
door to door transportation service has been available to senior citizens and persons with
disabilities. Service is provided seven days a week, 24 hours a day, with reservations taken 24
hours in advance of the trip.
To participate in the Ride in Kane Program, the City of Elgin will pledge its Pace Dial-a-Ride
Program budget for 2010 as its local share to leveraged funds. The City of Elgin will fund
14.7% (less fare revenue) of the Ride in Kane Program, while a Pace subsidy and federal
matching grant will cover the remaining 85.3 %.
