The motion was amended by Commissioner Ericson, eonded by Commissioner Reed, to sena the top 12 police sergeant promotion- al candidates with a combined written /department/seniority) of 72 to the assessment center . In response to the Commission ' s request to improve backgrounds , Chief Gruber explained his proposal to enhance the background investigation process . A memorandum was distributed from S/P Henry Smith outlining the results of his research. Director McCollum stated that specific details couldbe discussed in executive session. A motion was made by Commissioner Camacho, conded by Commis- sioner Diamond, to move to executive session at 8 : 19 p.m. Motion carried. •
