Home My WebLink AboutBPAC 12.05.17 MM Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes December 5, 2017 6:00 p.m. West Conference Room, The Centre Present: Patrick Ainsworth, Tom Armstrong, Stephen Hardman, Chris Manheim, Parker Thompson Staff: Dave Waden (Community Development, Parks & Recreation), Ron Rudd (Engineering), Dave Zierk (Police) Absent: Alexander Fiebig Call to Order: Chair Thompson called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Approval of Minutes: Ainsworth made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 7, 2017 meeting. Manheim seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. 2017 Initiatives: • Elgin Bike Map – The January 9, 2018 meeting will be dedicated to the initial mapping of a network of bike routes crossing the city. Active Transportation Alliance (ATA) will provide some guidance to determining routes ahead of the mapping exercise. • Bikeway Master Plan Implementation – ü East Chicago Street Rehabilitation Project – Staff is hoping to bid the project in March 2018. ü National Street – Staff is considering bicycle accommodations as part of a repaving/restriping project. 2018 Initiatives: • Special Work Session Meeting – The committee agreed to schedule a special work session meeting for 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 23rd. Waden will confirm a meeting location. Other Business: • Manheim made a motion to approve the meeting schedule for 2018. Ainsworth seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. MEETING MINUTES • Armstrong noted that the 6th annual Housing Authority of Elgin Smiles for Christmas Bicycle Give-a-way would take place on Monday, December 11th. • Elgin Bike Hub and Arabica Café will host a Hot Chocolate Ride on Sunday, December 10th beginning at 1:30pm. • Hardman suggested that the Full Moon Rides have an earlier start time given the shorter daylight hours during the winter months. • Manheim requested that the committee be allowed to review the sections of the Comprehensive Plan update, which relate to the work of the committee. Next Meeting: The next regular meeting of the BPAC is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. A special work session meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:32 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Tom Armstrong, Secretary Approved:
