HomeMy WebLinkAboutBPAC 11.07.17 MM Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes November 7, 2017 6:00 p.m. West Conference Room, The Centre Present: Patrick Ainsworth, Tom Armstrong, Stephen Hardman, Chris Manheim, Parker Thompson Staff: Dave Waden (Community Development, Parks & Recreation), Ron Rudd (Engineering), Dave Zierk (Police) Absent: Alexander Fiebig Call to Order: Chair Thompson called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. Approval of Minutes: Ainsworth made a motion to approve the minutes of the October 3, 2017 meeting. Thompson seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. 2017 Initiatives: • BPAC hosted a Traffic Skills 101 course on October 15th. Completing Traffic Skills 101 is a prerequisite to register for League Certified Instructor (LCI) training with the League of American Bicyclists (LAB). Armstrong and Thompson completed the Traffic Skills 101 course. • Waden and Armstrong will meet with Active Transportation Alliance (ATA) via a conference call to discuss a timeframe and requirements for creation of the Elgin Bike Map. 2018 Initiatives: • The committee reviewed the meeting schedule for 2018. The January and July meeting will be moved to the 2nd Tuesday of the month. There will be no August meeting due to BPAC’s participation in National Night Out. • The committee discussed reapplying for LAB Bicycle Friendly Community recognition in 2018. • The committee discussed opportunities to collaborate with PACE to increase ridership and to promote their services. PACE offers a program called Touch-a-Bus. MEETING MINUTES Other Business: • The committee reviewed the purpose, rules, and code of conduct for BPAC. • Armstrong and Thompson attended ATA’s Bike Walk Every Town seminar in Schaumburg. The ATA will offer an on-line seminar on November 16th, covering the same materials. Next Meeting: The next meeting of the BPAC is scheduled for Tuesday, December 5th at 6:00 p.m. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:12 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Tom Armstrong, Secretary Approved:
