RESOLUTION
APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 IN THE CONTRACT WITH
CARPET ONE INTERIORS FOR FIRE STATION NO. 6
WHEREAS,the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a contract with Carpet One Interiors
for construction of Fire Station No. 6; and
WHEREAS,it is necessary and desirable to modify the terms of the contract as is described
in Change Order No. 1, attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELGIN,ILLINOIS,that Olufemi Folarin,City Manager,be and is hereby authorized and directed to
execute Change Order No. 1,a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereofby reference.

SUBJECT: Change Order#1 for Carpet One Interiors for Fire Station 6
PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Mayor and members of the City Council with
information to approve payment for a change order to Carpet One Interiors for the construction
of Fire Station 6.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council approve the payment for a change order to Carpet One
Interiors for the construction of Fire Station 6 in the amount of$3,600.00
BACKGROUND
The City solicited bids for the carpeting of Fire Station 6. The bid for carpeting also sought
proposals for installing rubberized flooring in the fire station's physical fitness area, but none of
the contractors responded to this portion of the bid. Carpet One Interiors was awarded the bid for
installing carpeting at Fire Station 6, the contract totaling $19,202.50. During the installation of
the carpeting, Carpet One Interiors was able to identify a supplier of the rubberized flooring
sought for the fire station's physical fitness area. The Fire Department authorized Carpet One
Interiors to install the rubberized flooring because no other contractors provided bids for the
work and the contemplated work was a small purchase of less than $10,000. A change order in
the amount of $3,600.00 was submitted by Carpet One Interiors for the installation of the
rubberized floor..
