BACKGROUND
School District U-46 will be hosting the high school summer school
program at Elgin High School in 2002, due to construction at

A contract has been negotiated between the City and School District
U-46, where the City and District share the cost of the program
equally.
This program continues to be very valuable to the schools, the
students and the department by providing an active partnership.
This partnership has allowed the department to anticipate problems
and react before they get out of hand. It has allowed the schools
and the City to combat gang recruiting and reduce the incidents of
violence in and around the schools.
