RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING FREE PARKING AT CITY PARKING LOTS DURING THE
2001 FINE ARTS FESTIVAL
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN,
ILLINOIS, that it hereby authorizes free parking at the Spring
Street parking deck and the Civic Center parking lot on Saturday,
August 25, 2001 for the 2001 Fine Arts Festival .

SUBJECT: 2001 Fine Arts Festival Unlimited Parking Request
PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Mayor and members
of the City Council with information to consider unlimited parking
at all City parking lots during the 2001 Fine Arts Festival .
BACKGROUND
The 2001 Fine Arts Festival is scheduled for August 24, 25, and 26 .
The event will begin with a free evening concert by the Elgin
Symphony Orchestra at Wing Park on August 24 at 7 : 30 p.m. On
Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26 all festival activities
will take place at Festival Park.
As in the past, the City Council is being asked to approve
unlimited parking at the Spring Street parking deck and Civic
Center parking lot on Saturday, August 25 (there are no parking
restrictions on Sunday) . This is a positive feature of the event,
provides a convenience to attendees, and encourages event
attendance.

American Association of University Women, Elgin Symphony Orchestra,
Fine Arts Festival Steering Committee, Prairie Rock Brewery and
Grand Victoria Riverboat .
