RESOLUTION
APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 IN THE CONTRACT WITH
MARTAM CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR REPAIRS AT THE HEMMENS AUDITORIUM
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a
contract with Martam Construction, Inc. for exterior repairs
at the Hemmens Auditorium; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to modify the
terms of the contract as is described in Change Order No. 1,
attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that Joyce A. Parker, City Manager,
be and is hereby authorized and directed to execute Change
Order No. 1, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a
part hereof by reference.

CHANGE ORDER
This Change Order made and entered into this 7i/c-day of f , 1999, by and between

the City of Elgin, an Illinois municipal corporation, and Martam Construction, Inc., an
Illinois corporation, as follows:
CONTRACT PROJECT: PAVING RETROFIT--HEMMENS AUDITORIUM
PROJECT NO. 349501
CHANGE ORDER NO. 1
The circumstances said to necessitate the change of performance were not reasonably
foreseeable at the time the contract was signed, the changes remain to the original
contract as signed, and the change order as herein provided is in the best interests of
the city and authorized by law.
SCOPE: Add additional area to the North of the Hemmens Building
REASONS FOR CHANGE: Design changes and value engineering has reduced the
total cost for the project from the original Bid Price for the base and the alternate area
by more than $30,000 making the project more feasible.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT: The amount of the contract will
be revised as follows:

Delete waterproof Membrane ($6,800)
Delete Border Curbing ($6,400)
Delete Concrete Bollards ($3,800)
Leave Existing Concrete Base ($2,400)
Set Pavers on Tabs in lieu of Pedestal ($4,390)
Eliminate Mulch&Planting ($5,800)
(Total Alternate Area with all items $97,244)
