TO: Mayor and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joyce A. Parker, City Manager
SUBJECT: Proposed Change Order No. 4 for Driessen
Construction-YWCA of Elgin CDBG Project
PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Mayor and
members of the City Council with information to consider
Change Order No. 4 for Driessen Construction on the YWCA
facility improvement project .
BACKGROUND
On September 23, 1998, the City Council awarded Driessen
Construction Company a contract in the amount of $159, 860 to
complete building improvements to the YWCA facility. A major
portion of the project involves repair and replacement of
deteriorated pool tunnel piping, decking, and conduit sys-
tems . Work was initiated on November 16, 1998 . To date, the
project is 95% complete .
Replacement of the supply and return circulating lines for
the pool was included in the project bid. However, during
construction it was discovered that the underground drain
line piping for the pool was leaking, which would require
additional repairs, and that the check valve on the existing
pump would require replacement (reference attached letter
from Driessen Construction) .
The YWCA of Elgin is extremely pleased with the contractor' s
workmanship and the improvements completed.
