Parker, City Manager SUBJECT: Sale of a Portion of City Property to Illinois Department of Transportation for Widening and Improvements to Illinois Route 19 The Illinois Department of Transportation is planning an improvement project for Illinois Route 19 scheduled for early 1999. The Route 19 improvement project will involve widening, resurfacing and the construction of sidewalks, curb and gutters from Liberty Street east to Schaumburg Road. The city owns the property located at the southeast corner of Campus Drive and Route 19 conveyed to the city as part of the Parkwood Unit II Subdivision. The property is vacant. IDOT is proposing to purchase from the city the northern most ten feet of this property along Route 19 to allow for the widening of the right-of-way in conjunction with the proposed roadway (7166' improvement project. The parcel to be acquired contains approximately . 103 acres or 4,486 feet and is 8 to 10 feet below the grade of Route 19 . The parcel has approximately 448. 11 feet of frontage along Route 19 and is approximately 10 feet wide. A map depicting the subject parcel is attached. IDOT has submitted an appraisal to the city providing for value of $450 for the ten foot strip acquisition. The proposed transaction has been reviewed the Public Works Department, Director of City Properties and the Corporation Counsel. It is recommended that the city proceed with the sale of the ten foot strip of property to the Illinois Department of Transportation for the appraised value of $450. A resolution would be placed on the regular city council agenda authorizing execution of the proposed quit claim deed. Respectfully submitted, Joyce A.
