Home My WebLink About98-117 Resolution No. 98-117 RESOLUTION NAMING THE NORTH-SOUTH ACCESS ROAD BETWEEN THE MOTOROLA PROPERTY AND ROUTE 72 AS GALVIN DRIVE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that the public street known as the North-South Access Road located south of Route 72 , west of Randall Road and north of I-90 between the Motorola Property and Route 72 be and the same is hereby designated and named Galvin Drive. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all city signs and maps shall be altered to read Galvin Drive at the aforesaid places . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to give written notice to the election authorities having jurisdiction in the area in which the street name is hereby changed and to the post office branch serving that area by certified or registered mail . The access road that was constructed by the City of Elgin and IDOT to serve the proposed Motorola development, as well as other adjacent properties , needs to be named. Wispark intends to use the roadway as construction access during the construction of its initial building. The need to issue permits and the identification of addresses prompts the need to name the access road. I suggest that it be named Galvin Drive. The Galvin family founded Motorola, continues to have an active role in the company, and has major land holdings along Randall Road.
