RESOLUTION
APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 IN THE CONTRACT WITH
FULTON CONTRACTING FOR THE OUTER RING STREET LIGHT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of Elgin has heretofore entered into a
contract with Fulton Contracting for the Outer Ring Street
Light project; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to modify the terms
of the contract as is described in Change Order No. 1, attached
hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that Robert O. Malm, Interim City
Manager, be and is hereby authorized and directed to execute
Change Order No. 1, a copy of which is attached hereto and made
a part hereof by reference.

CHANGE ORDER NO.1
SCOPE: This Change Order No. 1 will provide for the addition of five additional street
lights to the 1996 Outer Ring Street Light Project.
REASONS FOR CHANGE: This Change Order No. 1 will add quantities to the existing
contract for Outer Ring Street Lights.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES IN CONTRACT AMOUNT: The amount of the contract will
be revised as follows:
LOCATION VALUE
1) One new street light pole and 250 watt Metal Halide light fixture
to be installed at the Douglas Avenue and North Street municipal
parking lot. $3,375.00
2) One new street light pole and 250 watt Metal Halide light fixture
to be installed in the center island located in Mulberry Court.
There is no existing light at this location. $3,150.00
3) Replace nine existing street light fixtures with new 250 watt Metal
Halide light fixtures on the existing street light poles, three on
Waverly Drive from Waverly Court to Joslyn Drive and six on
Poplar Creek Drive from Bode Road to East Chicago Street at a
cost of$325.00 each. $2,925.00
TOTAL = $9,450.00
The original contract with Fulton Contracting is $17,050.00. By reason of Change Order
No. 1 , the contract for the 1996 Outer Ring Street Light Project will be increased in the
amount of nine thousand four hundred fifty and 001100 dollars ($9,450.00). The new
contract amount, inclusive of Change Order No. 1 is twenty six thousand five hundred
and 001100 dollars ($26,500.00).

SUBJECT: Change Order No. 1 for Fulton Contracting
1996 Outer Ring Street Light Project
PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Mayor and
members of the City Council with information to consider
Change Order No. 1 for the subject project .
BACKGROUND
The City Council , at its February 12 , 1997 meeting, awarded
to Fulton Contracting the contract for the 1996 Outer Ring
Street Light Project. The contract provides for the installa-
tion of five new street light poles and fourteen street light
fixtures on new and existing street light poles for areas
that cannot be served through our agreements with Common-
wealth Edison.
The proposed Change Order No. 1 will expand the scope of the
project to include the installation of eleven additional
street lights to the original contract. After execution of
the subject contract, these eleven locations for additional
street lights were identified. The locations are as shown on
the attached location maps and within the attached change
order document.
COMMUNITY GROUPS/INTERESTED PERSONS CONTACTED
None.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding for this project is available in the Major Re-
pairs/Public Ways Fund, Account Number 275-0000-791 . 93-70,
project number 339549 . The cost to do this work is $9 , 450 .
The amended contract amount with Fulton Contracting for the
Outer Ring Street Light Project will be in the amount of
$26 ,500 as follows :

The 1997 Outer Ring Street Light Program is currently under
development. Locations have been identified. Easements will
be required to complete the installations . Our schedule will
be dependant on obtaining the required easements .

None.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize execution
of Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $9 , 450 and direct
staff to execute the required change order document .
