ACCESS TO VENUE 1 . The venue, stage and truck loading dock must be available to the Artist commencing at T/_3 i9 The Purchaser or a qualified representative of the Purchaser with full decision making powers, :gust be in the hall and accessible and available to the crew and road manager at the time and during all phases of load-in, set-up, sound check, performance, load- out and departure . 2 . Truck unloading dock and area surrounding it must be cleared of all vehicles and encumbrances . Parking spaces must be provided adjacent to the stage door for one ( 1) van and three ( 3 ) station wagons . In stadium or arena venues, indoor parking close to dressing room areas must be provided for the sar:e vehicles . 3 . Artist and accompanying personnel shall be able to pass freely to and from backstage area and all other areas of the hall . Purchaser shall provide passes at no cost to Artist. 4 . Artist shall be entitled to at least one hour rehearsal TH&97,0L W/LL ac and/or sound check time at the venue on the date of performance and the Purchaser shall ensure access to the venue ✓�����s�e Ar 3P1.7 for this purpose no less than six ( 6 ) hours prior to public admittance to the venue . The audience shall not be allowed to - 1 - _ J .1. enter the place of engagement until such time that the technical set-up and sound checks are completed. Artist shall receive no less than one ( 1) hour sound check after all technical set-up has been completed. B. PERSONNEL TO BE PROVIDED BY PURCHASER Purchaser shall provide, at his sole expense, the following crews for load-in, set-up, rehearsals , performances and load- out: 1 . A minimum of two (2 ) experienced stage hands must be available from 7',819 on and immediately after the performance. 2 . A house electrician with full working knowledge of the electrical facilities in the building must be available at the load-in time and during the performance . 3 . One ( 1) qualified sound technician to operate main sound mixing board; must be available at load-in and sound check. a_ . One ( 1) qualified sound technician to operate monitor board, also available at load-in and sound check. 5 . Three ( 3 ) qualified, experienced lighting operators; one for the dimmuer board and two for the spotlights must be available at load-in time. 6 . House security approved by Artists ' road manager for stage, backstage and dressing room areas . 7 . Purchaser ' s production staff shall be subject to the direction of the Artist ' s musical director and/or tour coordinator. C. STAGE REQUIREMENTS 1 . The stage area shall be a minimum of thirty ( 30) feet wide and twenty (20) feet deep exclusive of sound wings . 2 . A drum riser eight (8 ) feet wide by eight ( 8) feet long and twelve (12) inches high covered with a clean rug and a keyboard riser 4 ' x 8 ' x 6" must be provided. 3 . Front of stage and all risers must be skirted with a dark material . 2 - 4 . If Purchaser is using portable stage, there must be skirting across all exposed areas . 5 . If a backdrop is used, it must also be a dark material or a black screen, three (3 ) feet downstage of a white cyclorama. D. POWER REQUIREMENTS 1 . Four (4) 20 amp or (2) 30 amp 115 volt AC single phase 60 cycle circuits are to be supplied to stage left and stage right. These are for Artists ' crew and for Artists ' use only and are to be *narked as such. 2 . Each dressing room must have at least one ( 1) 20 am-o -- circuit. E . BAND EQUIPMENT TO BE PROVIDED AT SOLE EXPENSE OF PURCHASER �Tr�ivwAV D 1 . A 9 foot concert grand piano (Steinway or Yamaha) tuned-to international pitch A440 at 2 : 00 P.M. on the day of Co vci_f.er 6.eA-,o the concert. Said piano will again be checked thirty (30) minutes prior to the opening of doors to the public. If the jutic� o9y P,eio,e engagement i s longer than two (2 ) days, piano must be tuned 9�iv ,9r GP.� each day prior to show. Alternate choice: One ( 1 ) KORG SG-1D Digital Piano with sustain pedal, keyboard stand (adjustable to 24" height) and adjustable "drum throne" . If SG-1D is not available, one ( 1) Roland RD-1000 Digital Piano may be substituted. 2 . One ( 1) Hammond B-3 organ with ( 1 ) Leslie 122 speaker (bass pedals are not required) . 3 . One (1) Yamaha DX-7 synthesizer with one ( 1) Yamaha sustain pedal and one ( 1 ) Yamaha volume pedal. 4 . One ( 1) Korg M1 synthesizer with one ( 1) Xorg sustain pedal and one ( 1) volume pedal, and one ( 1) "Quik Lok" keyboard stand. 5 . One ( 1) adjustable "drum throne" for the keyboards . 6 . One ( 1) Fender Twin guitar amplifier with tremolo/vibrato foot-switch. 7 . One ( 1) Roland JC-120 guitar amplifier. 3 - 8 . One ( 1 ) GK bass amp with ( 1) Guild Hartke 4 x 10" speaker cabinet . Alternate choice : one ( 1 ) SWR SM400 bass amplifier. 9 . One ( 1 ) six-piece Yamaha Recording Series drum set. If not available, Pearl or Tama may be substituted. Specifications : ( 1) Ludwig chrome snare - 6 .5" (2 ) rack Toms - 12" , 13" ( 1 ) floor Tom - 16" ( 1 ) kick (bass) - 22" Hardware: (5 ) cymbal stand with booms (1) hi-hat stand ( 1 ) snare stand ( 1 ) adjustable drum stool ( 1) tambourine Cymbals : (2 ) 14" hi-hats " ( 1 ) 20" ride ' (2 ) 16" crash ( 1 ) 18" crash ( 1 ) 18" China 10 . Five (5 ) heavy-duty music stands with covered lights and (for outdoor concerts ) clips to hold musical chart. 11 . Four (4) guitar stands . 12 . If equipment does not meet specifications as described above, Purchaser agrees to rent equipment which is acceptable to Artist ' s musical director. F. LIGHTS 1 . A professional light system will be supplied at sole expense of the Purchaser. Said light system shall have one ( 1) experienced, qualified operator to operate dimmer board under the direction of the Artist ' s lighting director during the Artist' s performance. 2 . Two (2 ) strong super trouper or equivalent spot lights .S�rs WALL !Sr" shall also be provided at the sole expense of the Purchaser with an experienced, qualified operator on each spot. Each APP.eoPR/h'TE Foy spotlight shall include at least six ( 6) color slides in good /STy�[G of TNROw working condition . The following Roscolene color media shall be provided for the spotlights #802, #807 , #827, #838, 1#841, and #854 . 3 . The Purchaser shall supply an intercom system for the lights . It shall consist of five double headsets with noise cancelling microphones and be placed as follows : - 4 - Spotlights 2 headsets House lights 1 headset Lighting Console 1 headset Artists ' Stage Manager 1 headset 4 . Main lighting system shall comprise of a minimum of 48 1 kw lighting instruments split as a front truss (or two side trees) of 24 instruments and a rear truss of 24 instruments . The front system requires 5 circuits of 4 kw (white, #866, #823, 1#877, and #817 ) and four (4) individual circuits of 1 kw (either #809 or 7#840 ) . The rear system also requires five (5 ) circuits of four (4) individual circuits of 1 kw (either x809 or # 835) . 5 . Artist reserves the right to add or delete lighting- equipment as deemed necessary by Artist in conjunction with Purchaser' s lighting company. These additions or deletions shall include but not be limited to the following: Additional instruments on front & rear truss floor specials white cyclorama black scrim ground row lights aircraft lights mirror ball Any assistance in providing any of the above items would be greatly appreciated. 6 . Artist requires a total blackout in the house during Artist segment of the show unless prohibited by local fire laws or safety codes ONLY. The lowering and raising of the house lights will be at the strict instructions of Artist' s representative ONLY. G. SOUND SYSTEM A sound system of Artist ' s choice (based on consultation with Artist ' s road manager or musical director) will be provided at no cost to Artist. 1 . The house sound system must consist of high quality, professional audio components (power amps, speakers, horns, etc. ) to provide clear, undistorted sound throughout the entire audience at an evenly distributed level of 115 db. - 5 - 2 . Preferred house mixing consoles are Yamaha PM 4000, Yamaha PM 3000 or Soundcraft with a minimum of thirty-two (32) input channels , with three band equalization per channel, with four (4 ) effects sends per channel, and with at least four (4 ) sub-master outputs . Desk lamp so that sound engineer may see board clearly is required. 3 . House signal processing rack must include: a . One ( 1 ) 1/3 octave equalizer for mono systems (White, Yamaha, Clark Teknic preferred) ; or two (2 ) 1/3 octave equalizers for stereo systems b. One ( 1 ) 3-way crossover for mono systems; two 3-way crossovers for stereo systems C . One ( 1 ) Yamaha SPX 900 d. One ( 1 ) Lexicon PCM 70 e. Six ( 6 ) channels of compression (DBX 160X preferred) f . Six ( 6 ) gates (Drawmer preferred) a_ . Two-way headset co:«<<unication between house and monitor consoles . 5 . One cable (snake) running from stage to house console with at least thirty-two ( 32 ) microphone lines plus necessary return lines in it with a stage box capable of splitting at least twenty-four (24 ) of the microphone lines at the stage X or the monitor mixer. 6 . Monitors shall consist of ten ( 10 ) bi-amped or two-way wedges and two (2 ) tri-amped or three-way side fill cabinets . All equipment is to be of the highest professional standards (eg. JBL, Yamaha, etc . ) as the Artist requires a sufficiently loud and undistorted monitor system. 7 . Monitor mixing at console by monitor engineer is required. Preferred monitor mixing consoles are Midas, Stephenson, Audio-Arts, Yamaha, or Gamble with a minimum of twenty-four (24) input channels and twelve ( 12) discrete outputs with a full cueing system. Signal processing rack for monitors shall include a minimum of ten ( 10) 1/3 octave equalizers (White, Yamaha, Urei, or equivalent) and one (1) three-way crossover for sidefills . Monitor mixing console shall be located stage left so that Artist' s musical director is visible to monitor engineer. - 6 - 8 . The following microphones and stands are required: Note : Booms are mandatory on all vocal mic stands . a . Seven (7 ) Shure Beta 58 b. Two (2) Shure SM 57 C . Three ( 3 ) AKG 451 E with CK 1 or CK 5 capsules and 10 db and 20 db pads for each microphone. d. One ( 1 ) Sennheiser 441 e. Two (2 ) Electrovoice RE 20 or AKG D-112 f . Three ( 3 ) AKG 408 g. One ( 1 ) El-ectrovoice RE 16 h. Two ( 2 ) PZM plate mics and/or "C-tape" for the acoustic piano i . Eight ( 8 ) Countryman direct boxes j . OPENING ACT (optional) Purchaser shall supply at its sole cost and expense, an opening act. Said Opening Act to be mutually agreed upon. I- is preferred that Opening Act be a comedian or an acoustic single/duo. J. TAPING, FILMING, ETC. 1 . Artist shall have at no cost to Producer the sole and exclusive right to film, record, tape, or otherwise reproduce and embody any and all performances by Artist, including without limitation, audio tapes, video tapes, radio transmission, and any other audio-visual process or solely visual process . 2 . No recording, filming, taping, or broadcasting of the performance or the taking of any photographs shall be permitted without the Artist ' s prior written consent. K. Dressing Rooms : Purchaser shall provide four (4 ) properly maintained clean, adequately ventilated, well lighted ygvc 17ccES1 ro dressing rooms for the exclusive use of Artist. The rooms �c/�TitiG foR /y must each be equipped with hot and cold running water, adequate heating, mirrors, towels, soap, at least one ( 1) 20 amp circuit, comfortable seating for a minimum of six ( 6 ) persons and at least two (2 ) clean lavatory facilities within or in close proximity to said dressing rooms . Lavatory facilities :rust be PRIVATE NOT FOR PUBLIC USE, and must be accessible without having to enter areas open to the general public. Dressing rooms must be accessible to stage and exits without passing through audience area. 2 . Security: All accesses to stage will be guarded by house security at all times and only those persons designated by Artist will be allowed on stage during Artists ' performance. Purchaser is responsible for the Artist ' s equipment while Artist has access to the hall . If Artist should be forced to pass through the audience, a security force of four (4) security guards must be present to escort Artists to and from stage. - 8 - 3 . Internal Transportation : Artist and Artist ' s entourage shall be furnished with all the necessary internal ground transportation throughout the duration of the engagement by a professional transportation service . L. POSTPONEMENT/CANCELLATION Artist may postpone or cancel this contract and the services to be rendered hereunder, at the Artist ' s sole discretion, by giving 45 days prior written notice to the Purchaser, in the event said engagement would interfere or conflict with the preparation or rehearsal of, or performance in a television series, a television special, a video taping, a motion picture, a legitimate stage production, an engagement in Atlantic City, New Jersey, or the state of Nevada, an international tour, or the production of a record in which the Artist may be involved. In the event Artist effects a postponement, said engagement shall be played on a mutually agreeable date within one ( 1 ) year after completion of the conflicting engagement. - 10 - All provisions of this contract and the attachments hereunto are of the essence and failure of the Purchaser to comply with any provisions without the permission of the Artist ' s representative shall constitute a material breach. ACCEPTED/AGREED: ACCEPTED/AGREED: PURCHASER ARTIST DATE - 11 - HEMMENS CULTURAL CENTER ADDENDUM TO TECHNICAL RIDER FOR THE MAMAS & THE PAPAS The performance by The Mamas & The Papas is part of an outdoor fes- tival : The Elgin Fine Arts Festival . At this time, it has not been determined whether the performance will be indoors on The Hemmens ' stage or outdoors on the lawn next to The Hemmens . The notes made on the Technical Rider are based on the performance held inside. If held outside, the stage, sound, hospitality and dressing room requirements will be met, but the following changes to the rider will be made: Page 1, Section A, Paragraph 4; Access to seating area is unre- stricted during festival . Page 3, Section E, Paragraph 1; Alternate choice will be provided. Page 5, Section F, Paragraph 6; If outside N/A. If outdoors, an ample supply of water, Gatorade, and clean towels will be available.
