TO: Mayor and Members of the City Council
FROM: Richard B. Helwig, City Manager
SUBJECT: Employment Agreement for Head Golf Professional
PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Mayor and
members of the City Council with information to consider an
employment agreement with Jim Vogt as the Head Golf Profes-
sional .
BACKGROUND
In January of 1996 the City of Elgin Parks and Recreation
Department Golf Division advertised for a Head Golf Profes-
sional . Nearly 20 resumes were received and three individu-
als were interviewed. Jim Vogt has the credentials and quali-
fications to fill this position and, pending approval, would
eagerly accept the position. Previously with Oak Meadows
Golf Course, his background includes responsibilities with
merchandising, daily financial issues, teaching and overall
day-to-day operations of a golf course.
With the restructuring of the Golf Division whereby the Golf
Administrator is a City of Elgin employee responsible for
overseeing all functions, the contracted Head Golf Profession-
al position will handle day-to-day operations .
The per annum base salary is $25, 000 for a period of 50
weeks . This will be pro-rated based on his actual starting
date.
