FROM: Richard B. Helwig, City Manager
SUBJECT: Second Used Motor Oil Collection Event
PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Mayor and
members of the City Council with information on a County-wide
used Motor Oil Collection Event.
rel
BACKGROUND
The Solid Waste Division for Kane County has proposed a Coun-
ty-wide used motor oil collection event similar to last
year. Kane County and the Kane-DuPage Soil and Water Conser-
vation District will coordinate the event. They have again
requested that the City of Elgin host the event in September
to help meet the public demand.
Attached is a summary sheet from Kane County for oil collec-
tion events in 1994 . Elgin was one of five sites which alto-
gether collected 11,945 gallons of oil .
Staff has suggested Saturday, September 16th at the recycling
drop-off site at the Public Works Complex as the event date
and location. The proposed agreement for 1995 is substantive-
ly the same as executed last year.
The event will be publicized in the Spirit and through other
means.
