HomeMy WebLinkAbout95-255 Resolution No. 95-255 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AMENDMENT #1 TO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, ILLINOIS, that Richard B. Dear Mr. Kristiansen: Recently the City of Elgin executed the Agreement for the Maintenance of Municipal Streets for the period beginning July 1, 1995. At the time the City of Elgin signed this agreement we were unaware that the Comptroller's Office would require the execution of the International Boycott Certification. The Department of Transportation attempted to attain a waiver for this requirement but was unable to do so. Therefore, in order for payment to be made to the City of Elgin the Comptroller's Office has required that the attached form be completed. Helwig, City Manager SUBJECT: Amendment No. 1 to Agreement with IDOT for the Maintenance of State Highways PURPOSE The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Mayor and members of the City Council with information to consider an Amendment No. 1 to our agreement with IDOT for the maintenance of State Highways within the City. BACKGROUND At the meeting on July 26, 1995, City Council adopted the ordinance authorizing the subject agreement. On October 4, 1995, we received. correspondence from IDOT requiring the execution of an International Boycott Certification. The IDOT letter and copy of the amendment is attached. The amendment to certify it will require the City not participate in an international boycott in violation of federal regulations . COMMUNITY GROUPS/INTERESTED PERSONS CONTACTED None. FINANCIAL IMPACT The IDOT agreement provides for $56,555 to be paid to the City. As individual expenditure records for specific maintenance on State highways are not kept, accurate expenditure costs related to the agreement are not available. In our judgment however, actual costs approach the revenues received. LEGAL IMPACT None.
