MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor and Members of the City Council
FROM: Larry L. Rice, City Manager
SUBJECT: Change Order Number 1 to the Engineering Service
Agreement with EDAW, Inc. for the Walton Island
Improvements
PURPOSE: This memorandum will provide the Mayor and Council
with information to consider executing Change Order Number 1
with EDAW, Inc. This change order will provide for the
subsurface exploration of Walton Islands and the Kimball Street
Dam.
BACKGROUND: The City Council awarded to EDAW, the Engineering
Service Agreement on May 12, 1993. A component of this
agreement was for the Engineer to develop a geotechnical program
to obtain subsurface information. Such information will be
required to complete the final engineering on the bridge
abutments, canoe chute and edge hardening.
This geotechnical information was not included in the original
agreement because the extent of the exploration and the
locations could not be ascertained until the preliminary
engineering report was completed and reviewed by staff. The
preliminary engineering report has been presented to staff and
the specific features of the improvement have been selected
subject to City Council approval.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The original cost of the engineering
services was $238,600. Execution of Change Order Number 1 will
increase the Engineering Service Agreement by $12,000.00 to a
total of $250,600.00. A copy of the change order document is
attached for your information.
