To: Mayor and Members of City Council
From: Larry Rice, City Manager
Subject: Employment Contracts for Assistant Golf Professional
PURPOSE
To request City Council approval of the third employment
contract for the Assistant Golf Professional.
BACKGROUND
Prior to 1991, the four "Activity Supervisor" job
classifications in the Golf Division did not accurately reflect
the tasks performed. These positions have now been
re-classified as Assistant Golf Professionals and are doing more
than merely supervisory work, e.g. giving legal opinions during
tournaments, instructing both junior and adult golfers and
acting appropriately in the head Golf Professional's absence.
As part of the changeover, the department will be hiring
young PGA professionals at the beginning of their careers. Thus
we will be using formal employment contracts (see attached) .
Two contracts, one for Jeff Grubb and one for Greg Genz,
have been approved. The third contract is for Harry Dwyer. His
position represents nothing more than hiring of a PGA Apprentice
in one of the budgeted and approved activity supervisor's
positions.
This personnel approach is a program of rearranging the
3-1/2 activity supervisor positions into three contracted Golf
Professional positions.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Same total as prior years .
