BACKGROUND Prior to 1991, the four "Activity Supervisor" job classifications in the Golf Division did not accurately reflect the tasks performed. These positions have now been re-classified as Assistant Golf Professionals and are doing more than merely supervisory work, e.g. giving legal opinions during tournaments, instructing both junior and adult golfers and acting appropriately in the head Golf Professional's absence. As part of the changeover, the department will be hiring young PGA professionals at the beginning of their careers. Thus we will be using formal employment contracts (see attached) . Two contracts, one for Jeff Grubb and one for Greg Genz, have been approved. The third contract is for Harry Dwyer. His position represents nothing more than hiring of a PGA Apprentice in one of the budgeted and approved activity supervisor's positions. This personnel approach is a program of rearranging the 3-1/2 activity supervisor positions into three contracted Golf Professional positions. FINANCIAL IMPACT Same total as prior years . r Mayor and Members of the City Council April 2 , 1991 Page 2 411 RECOMMENDATION The City Council is asked to approve the attached employment contract for the third Assistant Golf Professional . 401 L. y L.
